DISCOVERY BAY AND ME....

In 1979, young and recently licensed, I hired on with Hofmann Homes to work in the model homes as their second ever salesperson at Discovery Bay.

The Hofmann Company had recently purchased Discovery Bay from the original builders. The 72 acre enclosed lake and a few deep water bays were already in place, with perhaps a total of a 100 homes. The Hofmann Company had a vision of a primary home community with families, restaurants, schools and shopping. However, at that time, there were no restaurants or shopping. The nearest gas station was in Brentwood; the nearest food, The Byron Cafe.

I eventually moved to a house on the lake here with my family. What fun! We bought a small sail boat, fishing gear, and various rafts and tubes and spent endless hours on the lake. I had never lived on the water before and loved every minute of it. My sons loved it even more. My oldest son caught his first fish right off the back dock.

At that time, we didn't have a lot of conveniences, but Discovery Bay was growing - and continues to grow today. Discovery Bay now has a convenience store, two gas stations, a major grocery store, a drug store, multiple restaurants, a 18 hole golf course, a marina, a country club, two elementary schools and a new high school in the works.

Real Estate prices have grown up too. I remember selling deep water lots on Beaver Lane for $20,000. Lakefront homes sold for around $75,000 and my first deep water home sale was for $120,000.

I call living in Discovery Bay 'living young' - no matter what your age. I fell in love with jet skiing the past couple of years and spend every free moment I can turbo charging around the Delta.

Grandma gone wild!

Golf, tennis, walking clubs, boating clubs, cars clubs, bridge clubs, jet skiing clubs. an athletic club are all part of living of 'living young' in Discovery Bay. With numerous planned activities including boat shows, boat parades, bingo, socials - there is truly something for everyone, adults and kids alike.

A couple of things have not changed since I first came here. One of those is my broker, Cathie Marples. Cathie and I worked together in the Hofmann Homes general brokerage almost 30 years ago. (Ye Gads!) I'm very happy to be associated with Marples & Associates.

I am proud of my company's sales achievements and for our reputation for high ethics and standards. I am also proud of my own reputation. I bring not only experience and competence to the table, but my clients tell me that they truly appreciate my accessibility - and my TLC.  The choices are theirs, but I am there every step of the way to offer advice and options.

If you have any questions, or if I can be of service to you, please feel free to call me anytime. I always have time to discuss two of my favorite topics - real estate and the Delta!
